Flying Soon? Here Are the Top Things You Should NEVER Do Onboard
Flying is a great way to explore the world. It allows us to discover new destinations and cultures worldwide. However, certain behaviors can make the journey unpleasant whether you are a frequent or first-time traveler. Flight attendants have seen it all. Even though they are trained to handle emergencies and ensure safety, they must deal with various people daily.
Believe it or not, some passengers treat the cabin like their living room, while others simply forget basic manners and disturb everyone. There are countless ways to annoy both the cabin crew and fellow travelers.
Some of these actions may seem harmless, but they become very irritable when you experience them regularly. Flight attendants try so hard to stay calm and manage unpleasant situations gracefully, but sometimes, it’s very hard to accept how irresponsible and mannerless people can be.
Understanding that these behaviors represent a huge problem will help us improve our travel experiences. We should all become more considerate travelers and treat the people around us respectfully, no matter the circumstances.
While long flights can make you feel tired and overwhelmed, inappropriate behavior is not excused. You should always consider your environment and respect the other passengers.

Never Do These 8 Things on a Plane!
1. Bring smelly food onboard
One of the worst things you can do while flying is bring smelly food onboard. Before you do something like this, think about all the people traveling with you. Everyone wishes for a relaxed travel experience. So, bringing smelly food inside the cabin can be disturbing. Just imagine someone opening a fish salad near you on a plane. Would you like it? Surely not. So, try to take into consideration some basic rules before flying.
We know you can save some cash by not purchasing anything they sell onboard. Just make sure you wisely choose your options. Usually, passengers opt for biscuits, fruits, or salted items that do not disturb others’ travel experience.
If you opt for smelly food, you’ll most likely even make the flight attendants roll their eyes. You don’t want to be THAT passenger, so next time you travel, make sure you consider this basic rule.
2. Take your shoes and socks off
Oh! We’ve all been on a flight where someone needed to remove their shoes… and even their socks! Am I right? Isn’t it the most gross thing in the world? Why would you do that? And that’s not all! Things worsen if the passenger places his feet on someone else’s chair. It’s totally disrespectful.
We all know how uncomfortable flights can be, but slipping off your shoes shouldn’t be an option unless you are in first class with a complimentary foot spa.
The smell of sweaty feet after hours of traveling will make everyone onboard hate you. Socks carry odors and bacteria, so you should avoid other people’s seats or tray tables.

3. Hog the overhead bin space
Oh, isn’t it annoying how most travelers try to fit as many items as possible in the cabin? Although there are strict rules about the baggage allowance, people keep trying to sneak in more handbags.
Each passenger should benefit from some bin space. So, claiming space for multiple items is not respectful at all. If you are traveling with a carry-on bag and a personal item, you should make sure that the personal item fits perfectly under the seat in front of you. Most of the time, passengers tend to deposit everything in the overhead bins.
Next time you travel, be more careful with how you place your items and ensure not to occupy too much space. If you board later, don’t assume that there will be space left for your items. So, be prepared to store it further back if necessary.
4. Talk too much
Have you ever flown with a passenger who won’t stop talking? That is incredibly annoying. Sometimes, you just want to enjoy your travel experience silently, read a book, or look out the window. Disrespectful passengers can affect even these seemingly normal activities.
Some people tend to talk nonstop about their lives, and the most annoying thing is when they ask you questions. As a form of respect, you reply politely, but as long as you are talking too, it will be even harder to stop the conversation.
If something like this happens to you, make sure to tell politely that you feel tired and would like to sleep for the rest of the flight. This is a great way to escape and enjoy the silence. However, you should know that the method doesn’t always work. Sometimes, the talking person will find another stranger and will try to find new subjects to discuss.
5. Drink too much alcohol
We can all agree that a glass of wine or a cocktail can be helpful, especially on longer flights, but considering the environment, exaggerating shouldn’t be an option. Alcohol affects people differently at high altitudes, and what might seem like a reasonable amount on the ground can quickly lead to a serious problem in the air.
Drunk passengers can become extremely annoying and disturb the entire flight. They are worse than all the other examples we have shared.
So, if you like to consume alcohol onboard, just make sure that you know your limits.

6. Ignore the fasten seatbelt sign
The fasten seatbelt sign is a safety requirement, but many passengers believe it’s just a suggestion and act like they’re above the rules.
Turbulence can happen anytime, no matter how good the weather is. So, when the seatbelt sign is on, the plane will most likely pass an area with potential turbulence or safety concerns. Why would someone put their life in danger just because they don’t like to respect rules?
Ignoring the flight requirements not only puts you in danger but also creates extra work for the flight attendants, who must constantly remind you to sit down and fasten your seatbelt.
7. Let your kids run away
Oh, traveling with kids can be extremely challenging. They don’t have patience and are hard to control, especially on the longer flights. Unfortunately, flight attendants must constantly deal with kids who kick seats and scream at the top of their lungs. But, by far, one of the most annoying things parents do is to let their kids run or walk down the aisles.
It’s incredibly dangerous and unbelievable how naive some parents can be. As we already know, turbulence can happen anytime during a flight. So, why would someone put their kids’ lives in danger? It’s ridiculous.
Responsible parents should have different ways and tactics to distract their babies’ attention while traveling.
8. Use your phone on speaker mood
Lastly, don’t use your phone on speaker mode. Some passengers call their loved ones when they board or right after landing. It’s so nice to let your family know that you are safe, but make sure to do it privately! The other passengers shouldn’t listen to your conversation.
If you need to make an urgent call, use headphones or wait until you’re off the plane.
