How easily you gain weight
You’ve probably heard a lot of people saying they can’t lose weight because one or both of their parents have a weight problem. It might sound like a lame excuse, but it might be true. Here’s what scientists have to say about this issue.
Your body contains two different kinds of fat. Doctors constantly advise us to maintain an active lifestyle and consume a healthy diet because bad, white fat causes obesity and other diseases. Brown fat, sometimes referred to as good fat, speeds up your metabolism and helps you keep a healthy weight.
While everyone possesses both, it appears that the amount of brown fat you possess is inherited from your mother. Therefore, if your mother has a high metabolism, it’s likely that you will too.
Or you could say that all that white fat is your dad’s fault. The genes we inherited from our fathers may influence how much fat we store around our organs.
While you can’t possibly change your genes, and blaming your parents won’t do much, you can still maintain a healthy body weight by following a healthy diet and doing physical exercise at least three times a week for 30–40 minutes.
